2018 USA Volleyball Annual Report
National Beach Tour
2018 proved to be another successful year for USAV junior beach volleyball! We changed the name of the tour to the USA National Beach Tour (NBT) and implemented a new tour structure with regions producing the grassroots events and the national office focusing on national qualifiers, national championships and adult national championships. The NBT hosted more than 135 tour stops across the country.
In conjunction with the regions, USAV launched a new tour format in 2018, the USA National Beach Tour (NBT) for junior athletes across the country. The NBT encompassed all 40 regions and established tier-level divisions at the Junior National Championships. The three divisions included the National Open Division, Regional Division and Patriot Division. Athletes earned bids into the National Open Division by finishing in the top four at one of the 15 Beach National Qualifiers (BNQ) held throughout the U.S. To qualify for the Regional Open Division, participants earned bids at Beach Regional Qualifiers (BRQ) held by the Regional Volleyball Associations (RVAs) and their hosts. The Patriot division is open to all non-bid winning competitors.
The NBT expanded the number of USAV junior beach volleyball events to more than 135. Our new ranking site, in partnership with SportsEngine, allowed outside entities (regions, hosts) along with USAV to submit event results for ranking points. The USAV Ranking system is now able to include various junior event results across the country, which made the USAV ranking system a valuable asset to players, event hosts and college recruiters across the country.
The NBT also encompasses the USA National Beach Tour – Adult Championships, which offers an opportunity for adult athletes to have a season-ending tournament.
