Beach National Teams

The U.S. Beach National Teams finished 2018 with two men’s and three women’s teams in the top 12 on the FIVB and ranked first in both genders of the NORCECA Beach Tour. USAV hired Tyler Hildebrand as its first beach national team director of coaching. The Olympic qualifying period officially started on September 1, 2018.

2018 Accomplishments

  • USOC – April Ross and Alix Klineman were voted the USOC’s October Team of the Month.

  • USAV – Summer Ross was voted USAV Female Beach Player of the Year and Jake Gibb was USAV Male Beach Player of the Year. USAV hired Tyler Hildebrand as its first-ever full-time director of coaching for the beach national team.

  • FIVB – In FIVB World Tour 3-5 Star events, the U.S. women won 13 medals (4 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze) and the men 4 (3 gold and 1 bronze).
  • NORECA – The U.S. finished the 2018 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour ranked No. 1 in both genders. In six events, the U.S. women won 4 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes, while the men finished with 1 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals.
